UfiSpace Awarded TIP Gold Badge for Disaggregated Cell Site Gateway Solution

New Taipei, Taiwan, July, 22, 2022 -- UfiSpace, the leading provider of open disaggregated networking solutions, announced today that Telecom Infra Project (TIP) has awarded the Gold Badge for their S9500-30XS and S9500-22XST disaggregated cell site gateway (DCSG) solutions. The DCSGs have been validated in an end-to-end environment within a TIP community Lab, which is hosted by the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) in Taiwan.

“The service provider network infrastructure is a critical role for supporting our modern digital society. It is important that our service providers solutions adhere to the highest standards and have been tested and validated according to their networking environments,” says Vincent Ho, CEO of UfiSpace. “We are glad to be collaborating with ITRI and the TIP community lab to further solidify our dedication to providing our customers with high-value networking solutions.”

The disaggregated cell site gateway was designed within TIP’s Open Optical & Open Transport (OOPT) Group led by Vodafone and Meta. The OOPT Group is focused on accelerating innovation in optical and IP transport networks and works with major operators and technology vendors to define open networking technologies, architectures and interfaces. TIP Badges are awarded to products and solutions that have demonstrated a certain level of maturity with the Gold Badge being representative of actual service provider conditions in the field.

“TIP is accelerating the deployment of open and disaggregated standards-based network product and solutions across the world," said Diego Marí Moretón, Manager of Connectivity Technologies and Ecosystems at Meta and TIP OOPT Technical Lead. "We are pleased to see the initiative UfiSpace is taking to collaborate within our community labs rewarded with a TIP Gold Badge."

The Gold Badge validations were conducted in the TIP-certified community lab hosted by ITRI. ITRI started the lab in 2021 to help TIP member vendors cooperate with TIP and international telecom operators by performing TIP testing and validation in Taiwan. UfiSpace’s DCSGs were the first of many tests and validations that is ongoing in ITRI’s lab.

According to Industrial Development Bureau, MOEA, the sponsoring government agency of ITRI’s TIP Lab in Taiwan, “We are committed to help our industry develop open network solutions. We are very excited to see UfiSpace's DCSG products cooperating with a world-leading NOS provider successfully validated by TIP's Gold Badge. The collaboration with TIP and Community Lab at ITRI also serves as a good model to enhance the competitiveness of our industry.”

UfiSpace’s DCSGs were one of the earliest contributions to the TIP community and one of the industry’s first deployments of a DCSG into a live telecom network. To support 2G/3G/4G and 5G cell sites, the S9500-30XS and S9500-22XST comes with a wide range of network and timing interfaces that will handle increased data volumes from 5G services. To reduce the deployment complexities for service providers, the DCSGs can also double as a grand master clock, with Class-C timing accuracy and support of SyncE and IEEE 1558v2 timing synchronization. More details about the UfiSpace’s DCSGs can also be found on TIP’s Marketplace.

About Telecom Infra Project
The Telecom Infra Project (TIP) is a global community of companies and organizations that are driving infrastructure solutions to advance global connectivity. Half of the world's population is still not connected to the internet, and for those who are, connectivity is often insufficient. This limits access to the multitude of consumer and commercial benefits provided by the internet, thereby impacting GDP growth globally. However, a lack of flexibility in the current solutions - exacerbated by a limited choice in technology providers - makes it challenging for operators to efficiently build and upgrade networks. Founded in 2016, TIP is a community of diverse participants that includes hundreds of companies - from service providers and technology partners, to systems integrators and other connectivity stakeholders. We are working together to develop, test and deploy open, disaggregated, and standards-based solutions that deliver the high quality connectivity that the world needs - now and in the decades to come.
