UfiSpace Joins Open XR Optics Forum to Accelerate Innovation within Multipoint Coherent Pluggable Optical Technology
New Taipei, Taiwan, September, 21, 2022 -- UfiSpace, the leading enabler of open and disaggregated transport networking solutions, announced today that it has joined the Open XR Optics Forum to accelerate the development of multipoint coherent pluggable optical technology and ensure full interoperability of its switching and routing platforms with the new XR optics.
Open XR Optics Forum is a multi-source agreement (MSA) working group dedicated to the development and fostering the adoption of point-to-multipoint coherent pluggable transceiver technology, XR optics. The workgroup also works on interoperability of the new technology with existing standards and standardization of new products and services to ensure multi-source ecosystem potential. Among members, Open XR Optics Forum includes network operators, network equipment vendors, and component suppliers.

XR optics is called to innovate the coherent pluggable transceiver technology, enabling point-to-multipoint optical transmission. The industry’s first optical technology is capable of connecting multiple lower-speed interfaces to a few higher speed interfaces through aggregation in the optical domain, without the need for electrical aggregation devices, making infrastructure leaner. Among its core benefits are dramatic network simplification, significant cost reductions estimated at up to 70%, and unprecedented levels of network flexibility.
Within the Open XR Optics Forum, UfiSpace will bring its expertise from deployment of open networking solutions into service provider networks. The company will collaborate with the multi-vendor workgroup to ensure full compatibility of its solutions with other members of the ecosystem, and to make high bandwidth, software-configurable, coherent optics available for every segment within the transport network. UfiSpace is also looking to optimize its platforms for power management and cooling with XR optics.
